aren't even close in comparison as far as style and content to songs like Yonkers,She,& Domo23 which received far less accolades in comparison. Some songs that were hits for Eminem like Without Me,The Real Slim Shady,Just Loose It,Ass Like that etc. However his songs come off a very commercial and gimmicky and creatively he started lacking after a few albums. By that I mean lyrically Eminem is potentially one of the best if not the best rapper ever. The lyrics are a bit heavy.Ĥth I think Tyler is the more talented artists but Eminem is the more talented rapper. Not that Stan makes me cry or anything but I do feel some type of way listening to it. Colossus is pretty straight forward but I think it's better because I can listen to the words and or listen to this song no matter what i'm doing without an emotional reaction. You have to know something about Eminem's catalog to even get what Stan is talking about half the time, and then there is a twist at the end. Your own personal thoughts are what makes your music unique to you as an artist.ģrd I think Colossus is the better song but I think Stan is the more creative song because of the way it's written. Stan is the focal point.Ģnd If this is a just Tyler's version of Stan, it would take alot way from Tyler because rap is a conceptual art form.

Eminem himself isn't really important to the song until he starts writing back to Stan.so basically the way it seems is the dialogue of the fan in Colossus is only there to give a life to a character the represents what Tyler doesn't like about fans, where as in the song Stan, Eminem's feelings aren't really important. The disconnect between the two songs is the last first of Stan. The story in all 3 albums follows him (and all of his alter egos Sam,WOLF Haley,Dr.TC,Ace the Creator,Tron Cat & Tyler) and based on what I know about him and what i've heard in his music, Colossus is Tyler speaking on a specific type of fan and trying to deal with his fame.

Being a fan of Tyler and having heard both Bastard & Goblin, Tyler is a storyteller and if you actually stack the albums up, Wolf seems to be a prequel to in story to his first two albums. Songsġst I don't know if Tyler had Stan in mind when he made Colossus. Tyler himself insists that he didn't copy Stan, and that Colossus actually really happened.ġst Do you think Colossus rips of Stan, or at least uses elements off itĢnd Do you think that if it does, that it takes away from Tyler.Ĥth Which Rapper do you think is more talented. Some saw this as a negative on Tyler's parts, others not so much. I then went on the internet, and found shock horror, that other people noticed a similarity between the two songs. I put on Stan, and there the comparison was. This song comes from Tyler the Creator's latest album, Wolf, and as I listened too it, I found it to be IMO, the best song he has done to date.īut I also had a nagging feeling in the back of my head that it sounded familiar. As a avid Tyler the Creator Fan, and by extension, OFWGKTADGAF- I thought of some my favorite songs written by members of the group, and the one which really leapt out was Colossus.
